21 Apr 2004 - Lickey win first football match!!
On Tuesday 6th April our Year 6 football team played Catshill Middle School in an exciting match that thrilled the spectators.
Lickey started brightly and were camped in Catshill's half for the first 5 minutes. However, with the wind behind them, Catshill stamped their authority on the game and dominated the rest of the first half. Some resolute defending from Maneffa, Styring and Rainsford and some great goalkeeping from Wiggett prevented Catshill from scoring.
The second half also saw Catshill dominating for long periods of the game but Lickey produced some quick counter-attacks that had them worried. One such counter-attack saw the only goal of the game. Some good work from Wright and Ling enabled Prince to ghost in and score with a low, powerful shot.
Both sides made good goal scoring chances but Lickey managed to hold out and finish victorious.
The match was played in good spirit and was very entertaining to watch. Well done to all the players.
